Linda Blair plays Chris Carlson, a dizzy college student who travels to Germany to meet her fiance, Michael (William Ostrander), a serviceman. She is abducted with an East German defector and thrown in prison. This is the sort of jail that exists only in women-in-prison films--everything is strictly verboten, lesbianism runs rampant, and the toughest gal in prison, Sofia (Sylvia Kristel), is feared by everyone. Naturally, no one knows Chris is incarcerated there--she can't send out any information, and the US Embassy has made no attempt to find her. RED HEAT is worthless. Although the film is nicely photographed and boasts a score by Tangerine Dream, it's nothing more than an excuse to heap indignities on a number of German actresses. leave a comment
