McCrea plays a backwoodsman who comes to Detroit to earn enough money to buy an outboard motor. He falls for and marries waitress Drew, but problems in their marriage soon emerge. McCrea is the outdoors type, while Drew is a confirmed city dweller. The arrival of a baby makes for further
complications and arguments. Drew eventually walks out, only to return to the woodlands after McCrea is seriously injured. Poorly paced script and somewhat shaky direction are saved by subtle injections of humor, which help carry the drawn-out husband-wife battles.
