Rapture

Tragic story of an artist who loses his inspiration in an Italy filled with works of the great masters. However, the vision of a woman diving into a lake in the moonlight gives him new inspiration. He rents a cottage by the lake and eventually meets the girl, who he learns is an American resting after a mental shock. The two fall in love and plan to marry, but the introduction of the girl's sister reveals an old affair between her and the artist. The girl becomes deranged and commits suicide. Picturesque photography of the Roman sites and the Italian countryside are an added plus.
