This cornball conspiracy thriller expects viewers to cheerlead for unsullied, democracy-loving military men, but it's hard to get enthusiastic about one more right-wing paranoia party. Major Scott Broughton (Matt McCoy) flies with his army rangers to Syria, where his buddy Captain Vince Shannon (Glenn Plummer) senses an official betrayal in the offing. Ordered to remove a terrorist leader named Hadad (Eddy Saad), Broughton has no inkling that his superiors have already warned the extremist's guards. Hadad's may hate America, but fat-cat US politicians prefer to keep the devil they know in power. Broughton and his second-in-command, Alex Fenton (Dartanyan Edwards), manage to nab Hadad, but Hadad's men capture Shannon withthe complicity of CIA/Pentagon loyalist Rosoff (Bean Smith), who made sure big-mouth Shannon got left behind. Back home, Broughton's request to search for Shannon falls on the deaf ears of General Smith (Ryan Cutrona) and CIA agent Dell (Michael Mantell), the masterminds behind Broughton's compromised mission. Shannon negotiates with his captors, agreeing to help them liberate Hadad; his real purpose is to return to America avenge his betrayal. In short order, Shannon bumps off General Smith, Agent Dell and Rosoff, but he mistakenly believes that Broughton and Fenton were also among his betrayers him. After kidnapping Broughton's wife, Shannon lays plans for Hadad's troops to spring their leader. Broughton must convince Shannon that they've both been manipulated by high-level schemers who expect them to kill each other and get rid of all witnesses to this particular piece of international treachery. Action junkies will thrill to the sight of Hadad's zealous hordes landing on American soil — in fact the only reason to watch this preposterous political adventure is to see USA soil turned into a great big battlefield on which to play war games. leave a comment --Robert Pardi
