Pity the poor businesswoman, always one plot twist away from the ravages of F.A.T. (FATAL ATTRACTION Targeting). A single detour from chastity, and a CEO-wannabe can find herself in bed with a stalker, a serial killer or an extortionist. P.R. specialist Alicia Brayman (Elizabeth Berkley) appears to have a bright future at Vasco Inc., where boss Blake Preston (Barry Flatman) is grooming her as his replacement. Her savvy may even result in a merger between Vasco and the multi-national Barton Industries. Having impressed clients left and right, Alicia kicks up her heels at a company shindig and goes home with a short, dark and passably attractive stranger named Kyle Jones (Joel Wyner). Big mistake. After they've indulged in some sweaty passion, a woman crashes in and attacks Kyle. In his defense, Alicia picks up a sculpture and beans the intruder. Fearing scandal, Kyle talks Alicia into camouflaging the woman's death in a car accident. Alicia soon learns that the dead woman was the wife of her newest client, Jack Barton (Alan Fawcett). Worse, shady Kyle starts blackmailing her. Placating Kyle while snooping into his past, outclassed Alicia initiates a perilous cat-and-mouse game. When will she realize someone has orchestrated the entire homicide-blackmail set-up to discredit her, and can Detective Royko (Frank Schorpion) shed any light on her dilemma? Astute puzzle-solvers will easily figure out who has the strongest motive for derailing Alicia's career. And while such trashy cautionary tales can be hugely entertaining (take NO STRINGS ATTACHED, for example), this threadbare thriller is undermined by truly appalling performances: The leads give line readings worthy of Mumbles in DICK TRACY. When not straining your ears, you'll be giggling at the way Berkley towers over her co-star: the supposedly dangerous Wyner looks like a blind date Berkley could swat like a fly. leave a comment --Robert Pardi
