Based on a sensational (in 1930) novel written by an 18-year-old, which exposed the seamy side of suburban youth culture, this film version is about as insightful and well executed as the book, which isn't saying much. Murray stars as the young rich kid who dumps on his gal Kennedy by whooping it up at wild gin parties and going off with other women.
