Railroaded: Review

A disturbing, grim film noir, directed by Anthony Mann and beautifully shot by the great cinematographer John Alton. A policeman is killed during the robbery of a beauty shop that was actually a front for a gambling den, and under pressures from the police, one of the captured robbers (Keefe Brasselle) implicates an innocent friend (Ed Kelly). The fall-guy's sister (Rosa Ryan) begs detective Ferguson (Hugh Beaumont) to reinvestigate the case. John Ireland costars as a psychopathic killer who ritualistically dips his bullets in perfume.
