Payne stars as a red-bearded pirate who takes it on the lam after getting caught goofing around in the Sultan of Morocco's harem. The feisty swashbuckler grabs a Spanish prison ship, liberates the convicts and drafts them into being his loyal crew members. With his new ship and crew, Payne takes on the Spanish fleet, embarrassing the empire at every turn and romancing Reed, the fiancee of Spanish officer Mohr. An ambitious pirate played by Caruso betrays the cause and kills Payne's second-in-command, Chaney.
