Howard Hughes updated Bartlett Cormack's popular play to tie it in with the then-controversial Kefauver crime hearings, and the result is a hard-hitting crime drama. Robert Mitchum plays an honest police captain who battles to wrest control of the city's government from crime boss Robert Ryan. Director John Cromwell does a fine job of keeping up a lightning pace and elicits a great, sinister performance from Ryan. Read the complete review for The Racket
