In this equine Cinderella story, David, a stable boy (Jimmy Boyd), adopts a colt born with a split hoof that was about to be destroyed by its owners. While the trainers are busy with the colt's perfect twin, David's grandfather (George Cleveland), the stable handyman, pretends to shoot
the misshapen pony and turns it over to the kid, who nurses the mutant colt, then trains it to compete against his healthier brother, on whom the stable pins hopes of big winnings. In between groomings, Boyd finds time to croon four songs.
