A Quiet Place In The Country: Review

Creepy Italian gothic horror film starring Nero as a popular painter who is plagued by nightmares in which he and Redgrave, his lover and sales agent, engage in bizarre, ritualistic, sadistic sexual acts. Seeking to escape the city for a while, Nero and Redgrave rent a house in the country. Soon after their arrival, strange things begin happening; Nero's canvases are damaged and Redgrave suffers injuries in an unusual accident. The caretaker informs Nero that the house is haunted by the ghost of the former owner's daughter who died during a WW II air raid. Fascinated by the ghost, Nero hires a medium and holds a seance. While trying to contact the dead, Nero goes insane and kills Redgrave (or does he?). When the police arrive they find Nero guarding a refrigerator, which he claims contains the various body parts of Redgrave. Nero is put in an asylum; however, he never really committed the murder (it was all in his mind), and Redgrave makes a tidy sum selling his paintings. leave a comment
