London and Steel are a married couple. He's a race car driver who occasionally flies off the handle in jealousy over his wife; she hopes that a coming baby will make the marriage work. They are involved in an auto accident that causes her to miscarry and renders Steel sterile. She still wants a child and suggests artificial insemination.
