This Italian-French production is a series of four short stories filmed by four different directors. They have no real connecting theme other than the titles, which suggest the lead female is a "queen" of sorts. The first episode, entitled "Queen Sabina" and based on a story by Franco Indovina, features Vitti as a young girl hitchhiking home from the beach. ABC scored a win on the first official night of the new TV season with Monday Night Football and its flip-flopping coverage of the Giants-Saints and Redskins-Cowboys games. But the network's cheerleaders weren't the only ones whose chants of "Gimme a... chance!" did some good. NBC's sea-monster mash Surface hooked 10.9 million viewers, and CBS' more-promising-than-its-commercials-led-me-to-expect How I Met Your Mother actually improved on its lead-in, The King of Queens. (Mother attracted an audience of 10.6 million; Queens, only 10.4 million, proving once and for all that Alyson Hannigan is way cuter than Leah Remini.) Question: I'm happy CBS has moved The King of Queens back to Mondays, because I stopped watching it when it was moved to Wednesdays. To fill the void, I've been watching the reruns on my local station. I think this show is funny and that all of the actors work well together. My question: Do you think there is still life left in show? Answer: Absolutely, and so does CBS. Moving it back to kick off Mondays, leading in to the very enjoyable How I Met Your Mother, was one of the smartest programming moves of the new season. Its return will help firm up a night that many worried would take a major hit with the departure of Raymond. I'm reasonably confident that CBS will still be the network to beat on Mondays, and moving Queens back there is a critical part of that strategy ... read more
