A group of Portland, Oregon, residents try to establish a community of their own in the 1960s by purchasing some houses set for demolition. The cast of characters--played by the actual participants in the real-life story--includes a poet, a midget who dreams of becoming a comedian on
nationwide television, and an older con man who lives with his younger girl friend and their child. The story is told in a semi-improvisational fashion and has the appearance of being made up right on the spot. In the end PROPERTY is like listening to someone else's bar stories: it's got some
moments of interest but is best appreciated by those closer to the actual events.
