A good action-adventure picture with a fair share of comedy, A PRIZE OF GOLD was shot in Europe and features excellent supporting work by a trio of British actors--Cole, Wolfit, and Patrick--to complement the performances of Widmark and Zetterling. Widmark is a US Army sergeant stationed in the British sector of Berlin. He falls in love with Zetterling, a refugee with one goal, namely to take a group of war orphans in her charge from Europe to a new life in Brazil. To do so she needs money, and Widmark assembles a unit to steal a shipment of gold that's being transported from England to Germany.
