A Private Function: Review

"Hysterically tasteless" or "tastelessly hysterical": This 1985 British satire is surely one or the other, and possibly both. The time is 1947, and many wartime food restrictions are still in place. When a mild-mannered Yorkshire chiropodist (Michael Palin) and his social-climbing wife (Maggie Smith) hear that a group of locals are fattening an unlicensed pig, they decide to steal it.
