MacLane is a tuna fisherman wrongly jailed for a murder he did not commit. His heroics in prison win him a parole, but he is still unjustly a prisoner of the parole system--he cannot travel beyond a specified limit and he cannot marry Farrell. Meantime, he is trying to find out who really committed the crime.
