In this film set in the mid-1700s, Hope is an actor on board a Jamaica-bound merchant ship. Admittedly a coward, he covers his real personality by staging an act he calls "The Great Sylvester--Man of Seven Faces." When the ship is attacked by a villainous pirate gang led by The Hook (McLaglen), Hope saves the king's daughter (Mayo) and runs from danger.
