The later years in the life of D.H. Lawrence are brought to the screen in this film that follows the writer (played by McKellen) as he works on
Lady Chatterley's Lover in Florence and as he battles censorship. The movie concentrates on trivia at the expense of a more significant portrait
of the author. Although Gielgud turns in a wonderful performance as a censor, the remaining cast members seem stiff and overly theatrical.
