Drake is a young employee of an advertising agency who takes the subway to work each morning, but never gets a seat. She comes up with the idea of carrying with her a life-sized doll of a baby to insure a seat. The baby, which she names after her firm's biggest client, baby food manufacturer Gwenn, becomes the topic of conversation when Gwenn sits down next to her one morning. Impressed with her creativity, he gets her a promotion at the agency. This story was later made into a TV movie with Natalie Wood, titled GIRL ON A SUBWAY (1958). leave a comment
