Calhoun plays a mine owner who becomes sheriff of a small town in order to track down the man who killed his partner. He befriends Mitchell, a doctor forced to give up his practice because of a brain tumor. Mitchell is weary of life, so he flirts with death in hopes that a bullet will put
him out of his misery, running from his life with the sweet Edwards to chase after a saloon girl, sexy Calvet. He is also the man who killed Calhoun's friend, and after Calhoun finds out, the two engage in a gun battle. Mitchell outdraws Calhoun, but is suddenly stricken and dies as a result of
his tumor. Direction concentrates more upon characterization than action, but suspense ...
