Posse

Douglas produced, directed, and starred in this story of a US marshal whose political ambitions prove to be his downfall. Douglas, who hopes his efforts will boost his political campaign, heads a posse on the trail of bankrobber Dern. But Dern proves too much for Douglas, as he takes the marshal hostage, then demands that the posse pay him $40,000. To get the money they must loot a nearby town, thus making themselves outlaws. Dern allows the men to split the money, making Douglas' followers his new gang. The cast is superb, especially Dern.
