Slum-dweller Dahl decides she is destined for a better life. Her two goals are to be a great success and to use men any way she possibly can in order to succeed. A beauty contest is fixed in her favor, and from there it's a few short steps up the ladder. After an affair with a wealthy executive, she marries the successful head of a large corporation. When she accidentally shoots him, Dahl ends up in a Paris jail. But the truth comes out and she is left to continue on her evil way. This turgid drama is simplistic in its plot and character motivations, but the cast is lively, making this a better drama than it should have been. Dahl is wonderfully icy, with some good support by the men in her life. Direction is only average. leave a comment
