Colleano plays a hearty, overly confident sailor who makes a little money on the side through a smuggling operation. He becomes involved with a gang of jewel thieves and the prospect of making some big money. But a murder is committed during the heist, inspiring a vast manhunt by the police. Inadvertently, Colleano plants evidence on his closest friend, young black sailor Cameron, who has started a friendship with a white girl. Numerous tangents keep the plot hazy, but evenly paced direction maintains the tension's momentum. Both Colleano and Cameron are true to the roles they portray.
