Up Pompeii

Inspired by the success of Britain's long-running "Carry On" series of comedies, the makers of UP POMPEII attempted to inject some of the same wackiness into this effort. The result is a sporadically funny send-up of the Roman Empire that suffers from the same infantile sense of humor that characterized the "Carry On" films. Howerd stars as an incompetent slave owned by Nero. When it is learned that a plot against Nero is in the works and that a scroll containing the names of the conspirators is in Howerd's unwitting possession, a free-for-all ensues which sees both Nero's men and the assassins after the slave for the scroll.
