Republic Studios' disappointing last release stars Carroll as a gunfighter with a heart of gold, who helps youngster Homeier track down Macready, a despicable cattle baron who has murdered the boy's father. Aside from the usual handful of sparkling performances from a well-seasoned cast of professionals, the film is sadly routine and uninvolving. Though top-billed, Calvet has only a minor role as a mail-order bride. After this picture, Republic closed its doors and sold off its remaining assets to the highest bidder (the lot itself went to CBS). leave a comment
