A slow-moving, uneventful film detailing the relationship between a 12-year-old girl, Weber, and her 76-year-old grandmother, Sondergaard (who came out of retirement for this film), at whose country home the girl stays for the summer. Eventually the pair grow close, and Sondergaard relates
her determination not to be moved off her land by the uncaring contractors who seek to build on it. The girl is instilled with her grandmother's passion, and when the old woman dies, the little girl tries to fight off the workers, but in the end she must relent and let progress have its way.
Fairly tedious, with only a few poignant moments to punctuate this otherwise dull tale.
