Peppard is a down-and-out private eye who's hired as a bodyguard for Hunnicutt, the mistress of millionaire Burr. After a few attempts on her life, Burr moves Hunnicutt, Peppard, and Burr's entire family down to the Bahamas. When another attempt is made on Hunnicutt's life, Peppard kills the would-be assassin, who turns out to be Evers, Burr's business partner. Peppard is jailed for murder but later released.
