PINK PANTHER, THE
starstarstarstar
Writer-director Blake Edwards hit paydirt with the character of Inspector Clouseau, a Tati-like police inspector with a too-big trenchcoat and moustache who is sublimely indifferent to the world around him. Peter Sellers brought magnificent life to the character, and while it lasted through a number of movies until Sellers' death, this is the first and undoubtedly the best of the series. With David Niven and Capucine. Read the complete review for The Pink Panther

Jesse James, Inspector Clouseau and More Movie Questions

Question Theres a new movie with Brad Pitt as Jesse James can you tell me who else has played him and who was the best in the part SeanFlickChick The role of the legendary bad man most recently undertaken by Brad Pitt in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford has traditionally been a favorite of handsome leading men including Colin Farrell in American Outlaws 2001 Rob Lowe in the made-for-cable Frank and Jesse 1994 Tyrone Power in 1939s Jesse James he appears briefly in 1940s highly historically inaccurate sequel The Return of Frank James but Jesses older brother Frank was played by Henry Fonda future TV Superman George Reeves in The Kansan 1943 and Robert Wagner in The True Story of Jesse James 1957 Even James Dean gave it a whirl in the second episode of popular historical reenactment series You Are There 1953-56 hosted by Walter Cronkite But pretty boys dont have a lock on the role Witness Kris Kristofferson in th read more

IN THE PINK

Once again raising the question of whether movie reviews are published in some indecipherable alien language in certain areas, the critically declawed Pink Panther emerged as this weekend's box-office champ, earning $27.1 million in its debut. Rounding out the top five: Final Destination 3 (with $20.1 million), Curious George ($15.3 mil), Firewall ($13.8 mil) and When a Stranger Calls ($10 mil). read more

Monk I've been getting a lot of...

MonkI've been getting a lot of love ever since I promised to give Natalie a chance. And I admit, Traylor Howard was pretty funny tonight, driving Monk insane (instead of the other way around) with her constant "ka-chings" as they furiously searched for a stolen diamond in the hopes of winning a $1 million reward. The opening heist sequence was totally lifted from The Pink Panther movies, with the robber emerging from a rolltop desk sporting a black jumpsuit and a Michael Myers-like mask from Halloween. As usual, the mystery was pretty easy to solve, and the bad guy (in this case, gal) was simple to spot. So I ignored the plot and sat back to enjoy the punch lines, like the excuse Tyler Mane's (yay, Sabretooth!) bounty hunter used when chastised for park read more

I recently saw the trailer ...

Question: I recently saw the trailer for The Pink Panther, and it wasn't what I expected. I thought I'd be seeing a CGI version of the Pink Panther, but instead I got Steve Martin making a fool of himself. So what's the connection between the actual Pink Panther and the movie?Answer: This one really threw me for a loop, but I guess I have to assume you've only seen The Pink Panther TV cartoons, not the original The Pink Panther (1963) or any of its sequels (a case history in diminishing returns, but that's another story), which starred Peter Sellers as bumbling French police inspector Jacques Clouseau. In the first film, "pink panther" wasn't Clouseau's nickname: It was the name of the rare gem that debonair jewel thief Sir Charles Lytton ( read more
