Set in turn-of-the-century Maine, PETE'S DRAGON tells the tale of an orphan (Marshall) who runs away from his nasty foster family and encounters a charming animated dragon named Elliott (Charlie Callas provides the voice). Marshall eventually finds happiness in the company of Reddy, a
lighthouse keeper's daughter. Elliott is a clever creation, sure to delight audiences with his ability to disappear at will, and the Disney sets and production values are as fine as ever. But the film lacks the emotional complexity and classic status of previous Disney films. This was in 1977,
