1965, Movie, NR, 85 mins

Charlton Heston made his first screen appearance in 1941 at age 16 in this adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's play. Made silently as part of a Northwestern University project, the picture was shot in northern Illinois, Wisconsin, and along the northern shores of Lake Michigan. Heston's Gynt would be similar to other characters he would play in Hollywood, the world adventurer who carries out a perilous mission and faithfully loves a maiden. The picture was reedited with new footage and a voice-over by Francis X. Bushman for release in 1968. leave a comment
