Peck's Bad Boy With The Circus

1938, Movie, NR, 78 mins

starstarstarstar
A weak juvenile picture in comparison with the previous Peck pictures (1921, with Jackie Coogan and 1934, with Jackie Cooper), starring young Tommy Kelly (THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER) as the homespun hero, Bill Peck. He heads for summer camp, but on the way meets up with a ten-year-old bareback rider from the circus. A kid romance starts up between the pair, but Kelly returns to camp on time to enter the big obstacle course race. Helped along by a fine cast which includes Gillis as the circus girl (also from TOM SAWYER, as is Nana Bryant), Edgar Kennedy as the lion tamer, Our Gang's Spanky McFarland, William Demarest, Billy Gilbert and Grant Mitchell. leave a comment
