Lotinga brings his bumbling Josser character, familiar to British audiences from a series of short movies, into feature-length life here. Lotinga is booted off the police force, but manages to regain his position after cracking a crooked racing scheme that involved doping. One of the
brighter British comedies of the early 1930s; the subsequent series did not live up to the promise of this first film.
