The Patsy

The agents of a famous singer who dies in a plane crash hastily look for a new superstar to save their jobs. The management team--consisting of Lorre, Wynn, Sloane, Harris, Carradine, and Balin--choose bellboy Lewis to groom for stardom. Things go badly, as Lewis bombs in his nightclub appearances and recording sessions. Somehow he gets invited to appear on the Ed Sullivan show, however, and the managers abandon ship, fearing the worst. Lewis is a hit and becomes a superstar.
