Lanchester is the widow of a British officer during WW II who decides to travel to Berlin to kill Hitler. She travels through France, and then makes her way into Germany as a deaf-mute, obtaining a job as a cleaning lady at the chancellery in Berlin. Lanchester never gets her chance at the
dictator, but she does cause a lot of problems for the German staff. Oliver plays a German officer opposed to the Nazis who helps Lanchester escape along with his girl friend, Aubert. Implausible story made bearable by Lanchester's commanding performance.
