The Passage: Review

Anthony Quinn plays a WWII-era Basque rustic who takes an American scientist (James Mason) and his family through the mountains to Spain and freedom. They're pursued by a villainous SS officer (Malcolm McDowell, who alone among the cast seems to be enjoying himself). The script is a jumbled bag of war-movie cliches, and hack director J. Lee Thompson--who surpassed himself precisely once, with CAPE FEAR--is on auto-pilot throughout. leave a comment
