Pardon My Past

PARDON MY PAST is a slick postwar comedy with lots of laughs despite the old warhorse "mistaken identity" plot. MacMurray and Demarest have just been mustered out of the service and are traveling to Wisconsin where they plan to use their savings to begin a mink farm. Upon arriving, MacMurray is mistaken for a playboy with heavy gambling debts to Tamiroff, whose aides, Prosser and Moran, are very tough-looking collectors indeed. MacMurray and Demarest go to the abode of the playboy, and Fred is again mistaken for the man who is supposed to be vacationing in Mexico. While at the estate, MacMurray meets and falls for Chapman, a poor relative of his double. The playboy...
