After Bakalyan accidentally kills a member of his own paratroop squadron, he must prove his courage in this war melodrama. To clear himself with the troops and with himself, Bakalyan sets off a series of land mines in the North African desert to open a way for a much needed radio
generator. In the process of performing these heroics, he is killed. This double bill filler is surprisingly engrossing, both in terms of plot and characterization. Screenwriter Stanley Shpetner resisted the temptation to assign a wide range of ethnic stereotypes to the squadron members. They
become real individuals to the viewer--unusual for a WW II action film, and even more so for a "B"...
