Parasite

"The First Futuristic Monster Movie in 3-D!," the ads proclaimed. Hopefully it's the last. This crushingly inane mess was quickly ground out to cash in on the brief 3-D renaissance of the early 1980s. Dr. Paul Dean (Robert Glaudini) is a scientist who creates nasty little creatures that grow in victims' insides, then burst through the screen--sort of. PARASITE blatantly rips off a number of popular movies, most notably ALIEN (1979), bits of MAD MAX (1979), and David Cronenberg's THE PARASITE MURDERS (1976). Following this film, forward-thinking producer/director Charles Band began concentrating on making genre movies for the burgeoning videocassette market.
