Widmark plays a wealthy candy manufacturer. He's a workaholic, which has caused his wife to divorce him, leaving Widmark with their five-year-old son (Winslow). The kid is a real hell-raiser, so Widmark places him in a progressive school. The class is taught by Dru, who improves the boy's behavior and eventually becomes the romantic figure in Widmark's life.
