Circus clown Brown is a member of a jury which is trying to convict the innocent Hepburn of murder. Brown refuses to be swayed by the other 11 jury members' guilty vote and keeps them "hung" for five days. Finally, it is revealed that Brown has committed the crime in order to save the
murdered man's adopted daughter, Foster, from any more abuse. The court sympathizes with him and delivers an innocent verdict. An early film performance for Brown who began his career as a nine-year-old circus acrobat.
