A group of abandoned dogs on a small vacation island revert to their natural state and become a vicious pack of killers. Baker plays a marine biologist who leads the humans in their fight against the wild animals. This could easily have turned into a JAWS rip-off but instead is a nicely
handled little horror piece. Directed with flair by Clouse, a veteran of action films (ENTER THE DRAGON), THE PACK manages to create a creeping sense of terror that mounts to the cataclysmic climax. A cut above the usual exploitative revenge-of-nature films, it was made with the cooperation of the
American Humane Society, which oversaw the treatment of the animals.
