Based on Alfred Ollivant's beloved children's book, set on the Isle of Man and previously filmed as TO THE VICTOR (1938), Rodney Gibbons' film is that rare family oriented production that doesn't glide over the flaws of its characters personalities. Anti-social tenant farmer Adam McAdam (James Cromwell) holds two bitter grudges against his nearest neighbor, landowner Keith Moore (Colm Meaney).
