McCrea, together with Sullivan and Whitmore, are Confederate soldiers on the lam from their Yankee captors. They join up with a rebel gang of raiders who are preparing to ambush a wagon train full of priceless bullion. They return to the side of the law, however, and prevent the theft. In the meantime, McCrea wins over attractive widow Dahl. Novarro, the great Latin lover of the silent days and star of the 1927 BEN-HUR, here made one of his rare talkie appearances.
