The son of deaf-mute parents is offered a job by a factory owner who sees the young man as a prospect for his daughter, also a deaf-mute. He tries to break up his daughter's relationship with a deaf-mute boy because he fears their children will be born having the same affliction. The
daughter and her lover agree to a suicide pact but are saved, with the encouragement of the young factory worker. The tender film is from a onetime assistant to Keisuke Kinoshita (BALLAD OF NARAYAMA), who arranged the marriage of director Matsuyama and actress Takamine.
