The bumbling Courtenay visits a friend on the night the man is killed. It turns out the man was a member of a gang that smuggles state secrets, and the gang now believes Courtenay has information it is looking for. Courtenay is kidnaped, beaten up, and questioned by gang members Villiers and Schneider. Set free, he is captured by another group.
