Davies is an actress during the Civil War who becomes a Union spy. She goes behind Confederate lines with experienced spy Alexander and they end up at the mansion Gen. Jeb Stuart uses for his headquarters. Alexander is a guest at the mansion and Davies is hired as a washerwoman. Davies meets Cooper, who is a scout.
