A typical British WW II comedy notable only for the early appearance of Connery. Lynch stars as a conniving Britisher who talks his buddy Connery into joining the military with him so that they can make big bucks fleecing the soldiers. They soon set up shop in every conceivable racket from
rations to leave passes. Eventually Lynch even outsmarts himself, and both he and Connery wind up as unlikely war heroes. Released in Britain in 1961, when Connery was just beginning his JAMES BOND series, the picture might never have made it to the US but for the success of those films.
