Adolphson is a circus attendant who discovers he's the illegitimate son of Sandborg, a rich aristocrat. He leaves his girl friend Taube and begins his new high society life. Sandborg matches him up with Bergman, but neither likes the idea at first. Slowly, Adolphson begins to fall in love with her, and one night he makes a drunken pass at her. When Bergman rejects him, Adolphson returns to his old life and Taube. This was one of the last films Bergman made in Sweden before coming to Hollywood. ONLY ONE NIGHT was almost considered risque in its time, dealing with illegitimacy and pre-marital sex, two subjects Hollywood rarely dealt with in those days.
