After having his earlier works unacceptably altered by Hollywood, former police officer Joseph Wambaugh decided to adapt his book about the real-life killing of an L.A. policeman himself. Ted Danson and John Savage star as a pair of plainclothes officers who go after two lowlifes (Franklyn Seales and an extraordinary James Woods) and are shocked when they're disarmed, kidnapped and taken to an distant onion field where one of them is shot to death.
